Analog, cut-and-paste, lo-fi, DIY, old-school - are all terms used to express non-digital approaches to zine making. It wasn't long ago that zinesters spent hours at their local copy shops making xeroxes of publications from an original template that degraded over time. Sounds romantic, sure, but there is something about non-digital zines that just feels different.
Join seasoned zinester, Julia Arredondo, for an afternoon of analog zine making and image building at Co-Prosperity in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood. In this workshop, we’ll explore hands-on zinemaking techniques that empower creatives to build their own 8.5" x 11" zine matrices in preparation for print. We'll even experiment with some light printing on our local risograph machine to better understand zine matrix building principles. No printing experience necessary! Limited supplies will be provided for attendees but be sure to bring collage materials and tools you’re interested in incorporating in your example. This workshop is for zine beginners and intermediate creatives looking to step away from the digital design interface to incorporate more evidence of the artist's hand into your zine making processes.
